Buyer beware, I bought this item for my two year old and it was broken in a matter of weeks. The hinges just aren't strong enough to support the activity of a toddler, who is not going to always (ours never) lift the lid with care. Another thing is I thought I would fix it, but the wood where the hinges are screwed in is so soft that once the screws come out they will not go back in and stay screwed in securely.

Warned Amazon about it, sent pics, and described the situation and fortunately they were great about it and issued a full refund and let us just throw the box away (instead of going through the burdensome and pricey process of shipping it back to them).
